Choices Large

Tonight is one of those nights when you have many choices.  The way the timing works out, you can see up to three of these recommended shows.

Four of these bands are basically playing opposite each other: My Pet Dragon will hit the stage at The Bowery Electric at 8:30pm.  They have been working on new songs lately, and I’m sure that their set will include them.  Mike Viola is in town from Los Angeles, and he will bring his power pop sound into Joe’s Pub at 9pm.  At the same time, Sasha Dobson will lead her new band into Brooklyn Rod & Gun Club in Williamsburg  to play songs off her newly released album, Aquarius, while Jim Greene brings folk-rock  to The Way Station in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights.

Later, at 10:30pm, Now I’ve Heard Everything favorite Lydia Loveless will play BBQ joint Hill Country. Lydia has been recording a new album, and I’m sure she’s bringing a bunch of new tunes with her.

Still up want to her some music at 1am?  Then head over to The Rockwood Music Hall, where Jeremiah Birnbaum and Chris Kelly will lead a band and bunch of very talented friends into an exploration of the music of 1965.
